Purchased a 98 Back Country flats boat with a 1996 Mariner 135 Serial# 0G 384616. When the boat was purchased the previous owner was running the boat on a 12gal. external/portable fuel tank, boat ran fine. I removed the portable fuel tank and reconnected the fuel line to the original fuel tank on the boat. The boat will start and run after priming the bulb but runs out of fuel. Where should I start my trouble shooting.

dirt, gunk in the tank? Is there a gas gauge? If so pull the sending unit and look inside the tank. I had a farm tractor once would starve for fuel if less than 1/2 tank. found a maple leaf in the tank.

Why was the previous owner running on an external tank? (hint, rhetoric question.)
Why in heck did you then hook up to the built in without checking it out?

Doohh (slap)

Clean up the mess, find out if the tank is even usable. (fiberglass tanks disintegrate with alcohol) and take appropriate action.
