So had the boat out last week. Mercruiser V8 and ran great. Stopped after about 45 minutes and then boat wouldn't restart. Towed in no fuel getting to carb had fuel pump changed and started right up. Took it out today ran for about 45 minutes again it did surge once after about 30 minutes but then picked back up speed. Shut it down to fish for about a hour and again no fuel getting to carb towed back in again. Does this sound like bad fuel filters.. Lines or something else.

Filters would be a very good place to start // Those are often changed annually // ( looks like an oil filter plumbed in the fuel line ) If you can empty them into a container and see what comes out might provide a clue.

If problems persist you could have a blockage from debris in your tank // Their is a check valve as the fuel exits the tank that can catch debris and plug and the pickup tube entrance is another possibility.

Inspect all fuel lines and hoses and their connections as well.

Good luck,

it sounds fuel system related.

could be crud in the tank
could be plugged anti-siphon valve
could be plugged filters
could be bad fuel pump
could be filter at carb
could be crud in the carb
could be bad gas
could be plugged vent

start at one end and start diagnosing and testing.

I had something similar on a 3.0 engine and it was the vent in the gas tank. The way they had it set up, when the tank was full, gas would overflow into the vent hose and plug it. After awhile it would not pump gas the way it should and it would die. I would take a look at that. 👍

Changed water separator today no help there. There is no gas coming from line into carb even when I disconnect from carb no gas so Im assuming its not carb related. Must be a block before the carb. Im just confused on why it worked after fuel pump was changed and then the same exact scenario after about 45 min stopped to fish and then it wouldnt start back up. Any ideas on that. Ill be back at boat Tuesday to try fuel filter and see were that leaves me

Do you have an electric fuel pump or a mechanical pump? The electric pump gets its voltage through a pressure switch. If the switch is bad your pump will not get power.
