This is the follow up to my post about white smoke. I took the carb cover off and found that fuel was leaking from the top of one of the carbs. I have posted a photo of the leak. Can anyone please tell me what is causing it or how to fix it thanks.[attachment=img=carb leak]

Re: Fuel leak

If fuel is coming from these two ports, check the float level or the inlet needle can be worn out. The carb is flooding.

One way to check: with the carb cover off, squeeze the primer bulb and see if it pumps up snug. If fuel squirts out these ports, again, check the float or inlet needle.

Re: Fuel leak

Because the 1995 115 crossflow engine in this application is an inboard, there may be no primer bulb [Coast Guard regs] or at least there was none originally.

The fuel flows by gravity down from the tank to the VRO2 pump which is on the floor of the engine compartment in a heat shielded cylinder. From there the VRO2 pumps the fuel oil mix up to the engine. The primer solenoid diverts fuel directly to the cylinders when you push in the key.

If you run the motor briefly, you will be able to see if fuel is coming from the ports. If it is, as OBJ has indicated, you need to remove the carburetors and open the float bowls so that you can check the floats and the inlet needles.

I would recommend that you pick up the carburetor service kits [part # 439076 or sierra part # 18-7046 so that you can complete the repair once you start.
