Hey guys,
Ive been trying for the past couple of weeks now to get the carb on my 91' 2 stroke 50 hp to stop leaking gas out the front side of the gasket. I've replaced the float and float needle, put in a new idle rod, replaced all the gaskets and soak the entire carb in carb cleaner. I've also tried adjusting the float to a lower setting with no luck! Is this normal? It drips once ever few seconds from the bottom of the bowl... I would think this would have everything to do with the float needle and float height but seems to be something else now. I think its making my engine run super rich as well... HELP! I need my fishing!

Thanks for the response but I also made sure it coming from the front part of the bowl. It's seeping through the gasket which I would think means the gas is coming up way to high in the bowl.

You should not see any leaks. You may see some leakage if you tilt the motor all the way up, but other than that, it should not leak.

I've had a few of the carburetor kits that were of questionable quality. They also had a different style of float and needle valve which prevented the needle valve from seating properly. Make sure the replacement needle valve is the same size (length, diameter) as the original. Double check the fuel bowl gasket too. The gasket should have a "ring" impression from the fuel bowl that is perfectly centered in the middle of the gasket all the way around. If not, it may leak.
