Last season I needed a new primer bulb so I bought the Moeller bulb and hose combo. This is grey colored hose in a plastic see through package.
I do not remember if it said alcohol compatible but I CAN STATE WITHOUT RESERVATION IT IS NOT.
Seeing that it was grey in color, I may have been misled that it was the same as SAE J1527 hose. I know now that it is not as it has softened and kinks everytime it has the least bend in it.
This weekend I had a hard time starting and the engine was backfiring.
The tank was full and the bulb was firm so I was kind of stumped. I switched tanks and it started with no problem. I had filled the tanks within a couple of days of each other yet I thought maybe it was bad gas.
The engine had run fine on muffs when taking it out of winter storage.
Now that I found the kinking hose, I believe when I switched tanks, it unkinked the line and fixed the problem. Today, after the rain stopped I got a chance to look around and found the soft line.
Just wanted to pass this on. I too became a victim of the gasahol plot to keep boaters off the water .
And Maryland wants to up the percentage to 15%!!! Arrraagggh!
