Fuel line connection

The fuel line connectors at the motor of my 85 HP leak a little and are probably original to the boat. I will be replacing the entire fuel line assembly but I'm considering connecting the line from the primer bulb directly to the fuel pump inlet (no quick disconnect at the motor). Are there any functional, safety, or regulation problems with doing this?

The OEM connection on many Force engines is a direct line to the fuel inlet strainer. Having a quick disconnect is hand if you want to run the carbs dry for storage.
