I think I know the answer but figured I'd ask any way to be sure.

I finally got the hard gray attwood line off the new to me pontoon. The hose bulb and engine end fitting were 5/16.

The fitting at the pontoon gas tank is 3/8. That kind of makes since since the boat is rated up to 75 hp.

But with a 50 on it 5/16 would be the norm. Somehow the PO or his mechanic managed to force 5/16 over a 3/8 fitting.

Anyway, I was going to just get all 3/8 line, bulb and fittings. Can't see any harm in using bigger line.

But if someone knows of a reason not to use 3/8 on a 50 hp let me know.

It's a 1999 Johnson 50hp.

Just use the bigger stuff, there is no down side other than cost.

Re: Fuel line sizing

Use the largest size that will actual tighten up on the fuel inlet fittings and NOT leak. But seriously, even 1/4" fuel line would run your 50HP engine all day long at WOT without any fuel starving... So any size you want and will fit is okay...
