I have replaced my old '86 4.3 Mercrusier engine with a reubilt. The old one had a mechanical fuel pump - the new does not. Can anyone tell me what part of the fuel line needs to be a hard line to be marine legal. I currently have rubber fuel line from the tank to the pump, from the pump to the water/fuel filter, from the water fuel filte to an inline filter and from the filter to the the carb.

Re: Fuel line

I think it's the line from the tank needs to be copper and the you can use rubber hose after the water/fuel filter.

Re: Fuel line

I think you can use A1 for the majority of it, as long as it is not a long run, but I know I am not the expert on this.

Take a look at this

Agree.....Thats the legal way.....

I've always heard that myself, but quoting from the link posted by Flargin:

Each hose used between the fuel pump and the carburetor must be ??USCG Type A1?? hose.

My understanding is a metal line is the "norm", but a flexible hose is allowed if it is A-1 rated.
