I took a trip ths weekend in the deckboat, 22' Lowe, powered by a Evinrude 88 Spl.
I calculated via GIS maps on the web that I went 58 miles using about 15 gallons of gas.
This is about 4 miles to the gallon.
Does this sound right?
I spent most of the time between 2000-4500 rpm.

P.S. I look like a lobster, the tea bath and vinegar rub took the heat/burn away. :)

Re: Fuel Mileage

In average figures it sounds about right. The advantages of the new engines like DFI 2 strokes and 4 strokes, is that this figure would be likely in the 6-7 mpg range.
Backfire ;)

Re: Fuel Mileage

Sounds pretty good to me; I get between 1.72 & 2.10 mpg on my 23' Seaswirl/200 Johnson (carb). Sure, I'd like to have an Evinrude or 4S, but I'd have to run a lot of miles to make up the difference.
By the way, TPD, I used to use the tea bath method when I was young (the "sun screen" in those days was baby oil & iodine! ) and I'm now paying the price: about every 6 months the dermatologist cuts out a chunk. Says my youthful stupidity is catching up with me...and my GP says I drank too much beer...it's hell to get old.... :(
