Just bought this motor. Need proper fuel mixture & any maintenace hints to keep it purring.

The general consensus with these older motors is to use 87octane 24:1 and so far it has done the trick for me :)

Hi Greywelk81,<br /> Voxmorgan is right on with the fuel mix. Also, I strongly recommend replacing the waterpump impeller if you don't know the motor's service history (lots of posts covering this on similar/identical motors). Check all hoses on the motor and tank. Check the coils (aluminum plate on top of the flywheel is easily removed to reveal inspection holes) for cracks. If cracked, replace (cheap!!). If coils are cracked, also consider replacing condensers and points while you're in there. Lots of posts here on replacing ignition parts.<br /> Have fun!<br />- Scott
