I am new to the whole boating thing...I am used to getting gas and going.. :D Now i under stand I should mix it 50:1 but I have a 17.5 gallon gass tank...if I fill it to 17 gal. how much oil do I need and what type...I have a 1973 evinrude 60 hp outboard on a 15ft starcraft fiberglass boat.<br /><br />Thanks for your help.

Howdy, Capt. G.<br /><br />Your 17.5 gal. tank holds 140 pints of gasoline. To a whole tank of gas only, you should add about 3 pints of oil.<br /><br />But.<br /><br />Most of the time you are going to be adding fuel to a partly filled tank. Add about 2.5 oz of oil per gallon. You can get a measuring beaker at most places that sell outboard oil.<br /><br />Good luck. :)
