OK here's the story, 1996 Wellcraft with 4.3LX 4BBL. Just bought the boat about 6 week ago, have had it in water for about 3 weeks. Had it through about 1 1/2 tanks of gas. Became increasingly difficult to start, would flood on occasion, even when warm. Bottom line is now it doesn't appear I'm getting any gas to carb. Changed fuel water seperator(but didn't prime first time around) and after several cranks (full choke) found out I should have primed it. Took it off to do so and the thing was bone dry. Is there another filter in the gas tank I should check or anything thing else(besides the pump) that I can do. I've been told that I should eliminate the tank by bringing my own fuel supply and putting the hose in to it as opposed to the tank. Any suggestions?? By the way I can hear the Fuel pump actuating

Eng Serial # 0F606647

I believe...there is a sintered metal filter on the carb; just as the fuel line goes into it; ;) check it out. Hope this helps.

Can that filter be cleaned or should I have to replace it. Just trying to get all the part before I get back to the boat. Thanks.

Re: Fuel Not Getting to Carb

Good idea to replace, but I usually hit it with lots of carb clean and the blow gun from the carb side to clean it. You can feel the air going through and see the carb clean spray/drip through if it is clean.

Start checking for fuel until you find the restriction. Often the filter will work at idle and die out at speed if plugged, unless it is completely plugged. The float will fill up at reduced flow but can not keep up at high throttle rates.
