Hey guys,
Man have I learned alot on this forum. thaks to all the smart ones out there and I hope I can be helpful also.

Anyway, I am the one with the 150 Force that is currently in the shop (see previous post awws-----t, itgotme). One of the posts got me thinkng. I try to run 92-93 Octane fuel in the boat as it seems to run best on that octane rating. I have read an intersting debate a while back on 87 vice higher ratings. I am now thining that maybe the higher octane I have been running may be the cause and my problem may very well be fuel related (gumming of the carbs).

What fuel do you all recommend (or are running) in similar outboards. Mine is an 89 Force 150, on the back of an 89 Arriva boat. I have always been told that the Force notors need good clean gas, as well as oil. I run Quicksilver TCW-3 oil (calls for TCW-2 or better). Would be very interested in any advice or recommendations.

Thanks
Deerdog

Re: Fuel Octane recommendation

I recently purchased a new 50hp 4-stroke and was told by dealer (confirmed in owner's manual) to run 87 octane. I must admit though that I have been running 89 since that is what I use in my truck. I've been told that using 91 or 93 octane can cause problems with OBs but I don't know what specifically.
