25:1. You could go to 50:1 if smoke is a problem; but the more oil, the better with those old 2 strokes.

All Johnson and Evinrude outboards since 1964 use a 50:1 fuel mix.

Re: fuel/oil ratio 1969 1.5 hp Johnson,

Just a little piece of wisdom from sitting around the shop when I was a kid in the late 60's. The old man who owned the joint must of been tired of the question about fuel/oil ratio for motors during that period and had a sign on the counter that read:
" If your motor was alive while JFK was alive, mix it 24:1. If your motor doesn't remember that terrible day, mix it 50:1."

Kinda stuck with me and still can picture that sign today.

Use a fuel stabilizer all of the time. That little motor won't eat gas fast enough to keep it fresh unless you mix it a liter at a time.

What is it in Canada, a Liter or a Litre? I'm used to Gallons and Ounces. Is 50:1 20ml/L? Oddly enough, if you mix it 16 oz per 6 gal tank like we do here, it's really 48:1...which is awfully close. :)

Re: fuel/oil ratio 1969 1.5 hp Johnson,

hey Willy...according to my calculations (from the back of the oil can) the mixture in metric at 50:1 is 25 Litres of fuel to 500 millilitres of oil...........so it takes a bit of figuring out.

(1 US gallon = 3.7854118 litres)

(1000 millilitres = 1 litre)

Re: fuel/oil ratio 1969 1.5 hp Johnson,

It's easier to work with the 20ml/l thing. Put 6 bucks worth of gas in, put 120ml in with it (6 x 20, or mentally 6 x 2 x 10). :D
Litre rather than liter since SI units are French in origin.
Buy the 'Premium Motomaster' 2-stroke oil at Canadian tire and it has a graduation on the side so you can measure out in ml.
