What's the best fuel/oil ratio for my old 1959 Merc Mark 58ae?

And how much SeaFoam should be mixed with the gas?

Thanks!

Thanks, Laddies. Uh, I used twice that much oil in my gas for my 'shakedown cruise' the other day. Think that might have bogged the motor down just a bit? :) Maybe that's why it was a bit difficult to get up on plane - in addition to having three full-grown men plus a bunch of tools on board.

I don't think that the extra oil hurt it any. I wanted to make sure I had plenty of lubrication for the motor that hadn't been run for 37 years!

i hope you changed the impeller first. if not immediately. oil may have fouled plugs. but if you are going to decarb, wait and install new after. if you didn't install new impeller heat could have caused it to bog.

Oh yes, I definitely did put a new impeller in before I even started the motor. Didn't want pieces of rubber blocking up the water passages.
