My suzuki dt65 (1987) is not getting enough fuel to stay running at wot. I have replaced the fuel pump and all connectors and hoses back to the fuel tank. The primer bulb will not stay hard and loses its prime after a few minutes.I think that it might be because I have a bad seal around my sending unit on the top of the inboard tank and it is sucking air. My tank is 18 gallons and is about 1-1/2 feet wide and about 4feet long. The vent is at the front of the tank near the fill hose, while the sending unit is at the back of the tank nearest the motor. My question to anyone is will this cause the primer bulb to lose pressure. Thanks

Re: Fuel pressure

no it wont.
and the fuel primer wont stay hard as its on the SUCTION side of the fuel pump.
restrictions will cause the ball to collapse and air leaks can cause loss of suction but it has to be between the liquid level in the tank and the pump intake.
sending unit wont care until fuel vapors ignite, but thats another thread.

Re: Fuel pressure

It would be a great help if you would follow up on your previous thread on this motor (throttle valve sensor), instead of starting another thread with the symptom of the day.
