Ok my experience with them is when they go bad they will not pump up or it's very hard to.

Mine will pump up fine. Start and run the motor WOT or slow no big deal runs forever. Turn off the motor and let sit for only about five mins. Star it again and it will die as soon as the fuel is out of the carbs. Check and the bulb is soft. Pump it a few time and all in then OK until I turn off the motor.

Re: Fuel primer bulb?

Some of the aftermarket bulbs don't have check valves in them to prevent the fuel from draining back. If yours has the valves, they may be letting fuel in the hose drain back into the tank after you shut it down.

Good luck!

Sounds like you're losing prime. Bad or dirty check valves in primer bulb, or air leak in system. Look for any minute fuel leaks from tank to fuel pump, which could let air in when sitting.

Re: Fuel primer bulb?

Air comming back down the line, faulty check valve, tank to lowe for the line to stay primed (gravity), holes in the line.
Remove the fuel line from the motor and check the connection on the motor end for cleanliness.
Generally the problem you describe can be easily remedied by one or more of the ideas written thus far on this site.
Cheers Ross
