Could anyone tell me in what position the little red primer manual valve knob should be in on my '87 VR4 90hp? I'm having flooding problems and at the moment this knob is set to half way. Which way should i turn it to close it (i'm assuming thats what needs to happen)?
Also, can someone recommend what spark plugs to use and what should they be gapped at?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Fuel primer manual valve???

Ok I found a link that tells me which plug to use and what gap.

So hopefully someone can advise me on the manual primer valve on/off position.
Cheers.

For normal running/operation, the red handle should be parallel to and aligned with the cylindrical base of the primer solenoid.

When needed for emergencies such as battery failure, the handle can be turned 90? to manually open the valve.

Thanks Ezeke!

My set up looks slightly diferent to the picture you attached but obviously the principle is the same.

Hopefully this will help me to get out on the water and enjoy the summer sun here in Australia.

Cheers,
Aaron.
