Fuel Problem Gone....

Went out tonight..........went from idle to WOT @ 4600 RPM (not too calm and 2 people on board) w/o any problems...........added dry gas, replaced fuel filter and tried Don's geezer trick.............seems nice and strong.

I love the way it sounds at WOT!!!!!!!........only leave it there for a matter of maybe 30 seconds.

I also retarded the timing to ~ 6*BTDC........is this OK?

Thought the timing had something to do with the problems at WOT........seemed like it was at 8-10* BTDC..........is that too hot or should I bring it back there?

Put it back where it should be. That is what the advance curve is based on.

geezer trick: "rev the engine to 3-4K RPM, close the choke and let the engine suck the crap out of the carb".........that's my version...........seemed to work.

yup, the geezer trick seemed to work along with changing the filter and adding dry gas...........any harm in leaving the timing where it is?.......really sounded good at WOT...........if I can still hit 4800 by myself, should I just leave it?

Re-checked the timing..........fluctuates between 6-8*........decided to leave it alone.

Went fishing today with wife......engine ran flawlessly.........even caught a 23" fluke!!!
