Re: fuel problem

So, you had it torn down and re-bored----is that what you are saying? It certainly would be hard to guess what is wrong. If the pistons fit properly and it has compression, and the seals are ok, it should draw fuel/air from the carburetor.

I'm thinking of a motor I rebuilt and couldn't get fuel to the cylinders-----after MUCH agony and troubleshooting, I tore it back down. Guess what? I had forgotten to cut a hole in a home-made gasket. Now who could have guessed that?

Re: fuel problem

Think we need a bit more info from you 14dar. I can't really make out what you are trying to say. To convert the late 70's 80s 25hps to 35s , they needed the intake opened and the carb from the 35, not just different jets. All the passages in the carb are a good bit different from my understanding. Does it draw air when it cranking? Can you choke it and it fire (put your hand over the carb while you are cranking it)? Shoot some premix in the carb throat and lets see if it cranks up.

What are the compression readings?
Does it have spark that will jump a gap?

How do you know it isn't getting gas to the cylinders? The spark plugs look wet?
Give us a little more info.

Re: fuel problem

It sounds like the fuel cannot make it past the reed box. If so you either have counter pressure instead of vacuum or the reeds are not working.

Re: fuel problem

Now I'm going to change reeds on all three. Pulled plugs two where damp top was dry

Not so fast now.
Sometimes a bolt/plug into the crank case ,for instance a hole where you can attach a fuel pump, is left open by accident. this will minimise vacuum pull from the carburetor and the engine will not start. check out the other/cheaper possibilities before spending money on reeds where they may not be the problem.
It may be as simple as the carbs not properly screwed on to the block
