Fuel pump '85 3.0L OMC

My fuel pump decided to quit pumping on me last season...good thing was that it died at the dock and we weren't marooned and it was near the end of the season. I went through all the checks...the pickup tube is clear, line's clear...it just plain isn't pumping anymore. Complete failure happened after a few minutes of not being able to stay on plane.

At any rate, can I just buy any new 3.0L fuel pump? I found some on ebay including a genuine Mercury pump but it said for 1990+ engines. Is there a true compatibility issue? Are there pumps prescribed for other engines that I can use? Thanks guys.

Where have you been? Are you hiding that pretty Bayliner? I put a 5.0 merc fuel pump on my liner and everything was perfect. Look at your old one and match the lines up. that 3.0 is just a generic 3.0 engine from gm. You can use the merc as long as the lines are the same. Where are those interior pics man

I know a 3.0L is a 3.0L regardless of brand but the year designation for the pump was throwing me off lol.

I've realized that I haven't taken any photos inside the cabin itself but I installed some dark grey indoor/outdoor carpet from Lowes and that turned out real well, a couple tap-lights, and a 12V outlet splitter to keep the electronics charged. I've been away from the board for a while but I'll try to get back here daily again. I've got to say though that after the countless hours of labor seeing more rotten wood and fiberglass dust even online isn't fun lol

She turned out awesome. I have been wanting to get to mine but work and school have keep me busy. Now I have 4 stitches in the muscle and 7 outside in my left hand so will be slowed for a while longer. Still have the Buick? That was one sweet ride.

Oh yea I still have the LeSabre...stored for the winter but it'll see some action this summer.

At any rate, a GM 5.0L fuel pump should work fine then? No particular year or anything?

Ayuh,... Why wouldn't you buy the Right fuelpump, rather than cobbing on something that Don't fit,..??..??..??

There's Alot more to proper Fit, than if it happens to bolt onto the block ya know....

What's the # stamped into the mounting flange of the old 1,..??

Depending on your answer, it should be 18-7278 from right here at iboats, if the flange # is M60032...
Flange # 6790, uses 18-7256...

3.0 merc will fit if you get the right line hook up.

Took me a while to find a price I liked but I found a new Sierra pump online (can I divulge the source?) and ordered that over the weekend. $115. Mine has the filter on top so I ordered 18-7278.
