fuel pump bad?

I just bought a low hours 4hp Johnson model 4W78E. I have yet to attempt starting it, but the guy I bought it from(my neighbor) said it was running fine, but then the only way he could keep it running was if he manually pumped the gas with the bulb/ball on the fuel line - it would not pump the gas by itself. The pump filter is clean, so does it sound like a pump issue. Is it a big deal to rebuild the pump, or is it a replace thing. Where is the best place to find the parts I need?

Armed with your model # you can order it from this website!!
Before you do that,you should check all your hose connections starting at the fuel tank all the way to your fuel pump.Quite possibly you have a small hole in the line and the pump sucks air instead of fuel.
Just for the heck of it,try another fuel hose and see if it helps.
