fuel pump check valves

1985 Merc 150 XR2<br /><br />Would bad check valves cause a motor to run rich? I can't gauge how stiff they need to be. Nothing to compare it to. Thanks.<br /><br />Dave..

They could cause a rich condidtion in One cyl, if they are old, replace them, the new ones are more compatiple with the new fuels.<br />Cheers
