The Sierra pump you would be looking for would be a 18-7284. That pump crosses to a Carter M60315.

Not sure what the number you have crosses to.

Re: fuel pump compatibility

Then STATE that....give ALL the info. SAY its a Marine pump. Theres ALWAYS someone here trying to cut corners, and do something stupid. And just for kicks, your Screen-name refers to "dope", so what are we supposed to suspect? And being a smart a## will get you nowhere here, At least not with me anymore. Good Luck Tystick

google.com is such a wonderful thing.
Shame you don't have an 81-87 OMC 327 Chevy engine, your CARM60159 pump would be an exact replacement.

I have no idea what you mean by that statement, but if you re-read my prevoius post, you will find the CARM60159 part number you gave is for a 327 engine and is NOT a replacement for the Merc pump number you gave.

Re: fuel pump compatibility

That is why i posted this as I am suspect to the claim that this is compatable as follows:
According to the ebasicpower, they are stating that it will work on all v6 mercruiser engines with mechcanical pumps.Could it be that they have matched it up somehow and can sell as such even if the parts book says it is for a 327 engine?

ps
it means full respect - an old boating term:)

You must be seeing something at ebasic that I'm not seeing. The only thing I see that pump used for is the OMC 327.

And here is a link to their application chart.

Don,
here is link to item :
although they do not mention the actual part # here - they confirmed to me that it was a carm60159
and would fit all merc v6So now i am really confused :'(

Then buy it, but when it doesn't fit, blame it on the one that gave you conflicting information from what there site provides. Things like that is exactly the reason I don't like ebay as a parts source.

Don,
we are talking about Ebasicpower not ebay. Ebay has nothing to do with it.They are only using ebay as a tool right?
Anyway, i gotcha as far as fitting or not but when a respected outsource provider of marine parts is behind it then i feel they should know what they are talking about.
Maybe they know something I don't
