Hello,
Well this is my third or so posting. Transformed from Rochester to Edelbrock on my 350 block 260 hp mercruiser Alpha one installation. The engine still gets way to much fuel and floods. I have come to the conclusion that the electric fuel pump does not fit in well with this installation. The psi seems low around 3 psi, but there is way too much fuel inside, and it really starts poorly if at all. When warm, it is even more difficult. When I remove the flame arrestor during after an unsuccessful start, there's fuel vapor floating all around the carb, Fuel wettness is present around the top of the carb carb if it doesn't start, and major wetting on the interior of the carb. It backfires often. Its just a mess, but I am confident in the fuel plumbing and carb. I am just not liking the electrical pump. Once in awhile, I move the throttle, during startup. WHich really sends in too much fuel.
With the electrical pump way too much fuel is getting in there...

In any case, I am done diagnosing this. Been thru the entire fuel system, many carbs. The edelbrock works very well once the boat is started.
I am going back to mechanical. Seems safer as well. This is a mid 1990's rebuild block and had the crankshaft rod installed, and is likely a better match. Any comments on this are welcome.

MY QUESTION IS:

In any case, this Mercury Quicksilver part seems to be the one: 8M0058164

I have read the Airtex is the OEM for Mercury. Anyone have the Airtex #. If not I'll go to Ebay and spend the $115.00

Thank you

I went looking for a "fuel pump & flooding issue". No P/N's. But, depending what carb you are going to use. Some are more sensitive than others. Q-jet being a 1. Some of the posting people have used a "spacer"type gasket to control fuel pressure.
Also went & looked at iboats fuel pumps. Sierra is around $130 without your serial number. Go OEM. it may come with a spacer gasket.

Ayuh,.... If the current fuel pump is moving fuel at 3psi,.... It Ain't yer Problem....
3 to 6psi is Fine for a carbed motor...

If the motor is Flooding,...
It's a Carb issue, not the fuel pump,... Period.....
Bad float height,..??
Soaked floats,..??
To big a shot from the Acc. Pump,..??

There's Supposed to be atomized fuel in the carb, if ya look right after crankin' it over, 'n lookin' down the carb's throat...
