Boat ran fine first day out been 3 years, went back to lake three days later boat will only run about 1 minute and then run out of gas , couple squeezes of bulb good to go for a minute. replaced bulb and hose no help same thing. Did VRO elimination before, it runs really strong and idles well as long as you pump the primer a few times. Looking at rebuilding existing fuel pump or replacing, since VRO was eliminated can I use a non VRO pump ??? 2001 50 hp motor.

looking at the diagram there appears to be 3 fittings on those, vacuum, in and out, maybe two outs??? Mine looks to be very busy with multiple hoses, some of course were the old oil lines. will it be a simple conversion/ install ??

The easy pump to use has just 2 hoses.----Fuel in and fuel out.----That pump mounts with 2 screws and a gasket on the side of the top cylinder.----It mounts directly over the pulse port which has a plug in it now.

ok I picked up two pumps today just in case. I have done a lot of reading on forums but would like someone to confirm my plan. 1st plan and being executed , remove VRO pump and replace with 438556. I will need to remove blue hose nipple( old VRO pules bottom of picture ) and plug and remove plug top and mount pump at this location with 10-32 screws. input to pump comes from filter and is brass fitting on new pump, top plastic nipple goes to fuel pressure manifold that sends fuel to carbs and solenoid for cold starting ??? Second option use 2nd pump that I bought 438559 connect it to existing blue pulse line and leave plug installed as is ??? I hope option 1 is confirmed, I like simple. Thanks for your help in advance

Believe 10-24 are the screws used.---------The 2 hose pump is used on the 48 hp models mounted directly over the pulse port for many years !!!

Thank you so much, also I have one more question, I stated the brass fitting is the pump inlet and the plastic one on top is the outlet, I have seen pictures in book and forums that have me confused. Could you confirm the inlet and outlet of the pump. Also do you know the length of the two screws I should use ? Thank You. Also do you know the plug size I will need to plug old vro pulse line once I remove fitting. ?

Simple ----You can only blow into the inlet and air will come out the outlet.---------It does not go the other way.

I should have looked a little closer, there was an arrow on the inlet. Thank you for all your help , finished up tonight. Will start and idle on the hose/muffler tomorrow after work and then I'm taking It to the lake. Still missing Cam follower I think.
