Fuel Pump Kit

Good eve' folks!

I have run into a dilemma.

Evinrude 40 hp '71 model (40153g). Fuel pump has gone out, very sporatic pumping w/ hose disconnected at carb. Book says no kit, not servicable. Is this still true? Can't give $98 for new one. That's unacceptable. Only needs a diaphragm.
Old dealer says that this kit (393103) may be it. $16 is more in line with being non-moronic! Anyone know? I'd love to continue boating!

KB, I rebuilt the "non-serviceable" pump on my 1979 70hp using the 1982 - 1984 kit. That was winter of 2005, still going strong.

If one of those kits looks like yours, I say go for it.

More looking@ FAQ and such would have been beneficial to me. TOO HOT I guess. Can't think. Figured it was possible even tho it said no.
