I have a 2004 8.1gxi.
Wife an I were on a long stretch of no wake and I was running the blower. Turned the blower off and it sounded like it was still running. Didn't think much of it (thought I was being paranoid). Went to a restaurant, and upon leaving the same no wake the motor started surging and trying to stall.
I raised the back hatch and heard this gnarly noise. I thought to me it sounded like the flame arrestor was clogged, or a pulley bearing was whining (I was so confused). Scratched my head for a bit, removed the flame arrestor, staired at it for a bit, started it again and the noise was still pressent but way quiter and no surging. So we pressed on...
Just about out of the no wake it got super loud again. I raise the back hatch again and start trying to pin point it. I started poking around in the area of the noise and I touched and moved some of the wires to the fuel cell and it stopped instantly. Coincidence?
Stayed out the rest of the day with no issue and no return on the noise.
Help me connect the dots on this one. I could see a pump laboring because it's clogged or the fuel is vaporizing (it was hot as hell), or its failing. But a loose wire? And the problem just goes away?
