I don't know for sure, but i am leaning towards the fact that I may have a bad fuel pump.
1982 115 hp johnson has been giving me problems for some time now. At WOT it looses a LOT of power and is hard to get to plane out again. After a while, started priming bulb while we were moving and it was giving us problems. It worked better but was still "choking." Good compression, brand new primer bulb and lines from tank to motor, sqeaky clean carbs... the whole nine yards.
Well, when i first got it, i had trash in the tank and didn't know it and it clogged the lines. I found this out because the primer ball was all the way depressed. I cleaned the tank and no more depressed ball. So I thought I had an AWSOME fuel pump and that it was working great!
Can it still be bad. I know I can buy a vaccum tester but is there anything else that it could be? I checked all the linesin the motor and they seem fine without leaks. I was planning on replacing those also. Can I just pick up some 1/4" fuel hose from autozone or does it have to be marine hose?
Thanks!!
