I have a 1980 Spirit 65hp, basically a DT65 and I am replacing the fuel pump diaphragms. It has one inlet and one outlet with a brass fitting on the side, every other one that I have seen has two outlets and no fitting. Does anyone know what the purpose of the fitting is? At first I thought that it was a drain of some type but it has a taper and a spring and the inside of the pump has a small screen. I attempted to clean out the screen but it still has some resudual dried fuel and debris.
When I picked up the rebuild kit the parts guy had no idea and has never seen one like it before.
Yes it is on the kitchen table.
