fuel pump trouble?

Hello everyone has been very helpful to me with my last post and i thank everyone that replied.

My boat a 1989 Bayliner Capri with a 85 hp force, has issues running when its in the lake but in the drive way with the water hose it runs great,

I checked the compression and it reads 125 124 125 so thats not the problem.

I have good spark and compression so does that mean its a fuel delivery problem?

Does anyone know how to check to see if the fuel pump is bad on a 1989 85hp outboard force?

And a good place to find parts for one of these outboards?

Re: fuel pump trouble?

I beleive the plug wires and coils are one piece.

The fuel pump is pretty cheap and they sell them here on Iboats.
Easy fix, if you are not sure.
Check for blockage in the fuel line, did you change plugs, and is your throttle working correctly? The plates on the carbs should be horizontal when wide open. You can check this in the off position.

There are many threads on the same problem here on the forum.

Good Luck,

Mike
