1978 johnson 70 hp. i noticed on the back of my fuel pump that there was a little bit of fuel spitting out of the tiny hole on the top, rear of the fuel pump while running. i never noticed this before and wondering if this normal or if i need to rebuild or replace the pump.

Re: fuel pump

Not normal to be spitting fuel anywhere, Scott.

You have a gasket or diaphram failure.

Re: fuel pump

thru some searching, it seems that this is a replacement and not repairable. is this correct or am i searching in the wrong places ? also i have my old pump from my old 70 hp, they look the same, but part #s are diff, is it worth the time to swap them and give it a try ?

Re: fuel pump

i found these also, but there is no listing for a 1978 repair kit, would it be safe to say these are the same.
