Fuel pump?

7.5 merc
motor not running at consistent RPMs (slightly surging) After ~2 minutes at WOT, will die unless I squeeze the primer. If I give it a squeeze every couple minutes no prob. Does it sound like I need to replace the fuel pump diaphragm and gaskets? Tank and line assembly already replaced. Also, does anyone know the right way to test compression? I got a tester but not sure if I'm doing it right.

Fuel pump is definitely a possibility with those symptoms. Have you looked at the diaphragm to see what condition it's in?

Well, i replaced the diaphragm when I cleaned the carb and replaced all the gaskets on that.
