i have a 1991 merc v200 carburated 2.5l engine. was out on saturday and it ran good for several hours, then all of a sudden died like it was out of gas. primed the engine and nothing. got pulled off of the lake, got home and checked the spark plugs. they were black and smelled burnt, so i figured i fouled them, although they were new. test fired boat at home and ran good in the driveway, so i took it out tonight to see what it would do. ran good for one run tonight, but then started acting like it wes starved for fuel again. spark plugs were clean, and it would run a little way when i hit the primer bulb. this is acting like a fuel pump to me, but i would like someone with more experience to weigh in on this and if it is the pump, how do i rebuild/replace it. thanks for your help

Re: fuel pump??

Sounds like it. Get ya a kit usin' your serial number. Most of those "square" pumps are pretty generic. Take pictures and just pay close attention to how it comes apart and will go back together. Slow is good when ya venture inta uncharted waters..........'91 probably needs a kit anyway......jmo

Re: fuel pump??

kinda what i was thinkn. are they like an auto fuel pump where if they dry out then they are bound to give up? i bought the boat early this year but i know it was never registered the year before, so i doubt if it got run in over a year before i got ahold of it. thanks
