Fuel question

What exactly does the anti-siphon valve do? Wouldn't it restrict fuel from flowing to the motor. Not sure how it works and do I need one on my built in moeller gas tank. For the most part the motor sits higher than the fuel tank until the boat is pulled up on the beach.

yes you need it if the tank is built in its required item by coast guard , plus the fact if you get a hole in the fuel line it will shut off the line and not suction your whole fuel tank to the bilge area !
