Fuel recirc issue

I recently rebuilt the twin engines 125 hp Forces. I keep blowing out gaskets on the side covers including the 3 and 4th cylinder. I did check the check valves on the fuel recirc systems when I rebuilt the engines and they were ok. Could it be a torque issue? The covers aren't tight enough? Admiral, please advise.

Re: Fuel recirc issue

If you, like me, decided that bigger is better and put longer bolts into the bypass port covers, then yes, they can bottom out and still leave the covers loose.

Torque them to 70 inch pounds and if they are too long, put a lock washer under them.

If by side covers you mean the puddle valve system, I suppose that improper torque could result in blown gaskets but quite frankly, for me, if tight enough is good enough, then too tight is perfect. I have never had a problem with these gaskets failing.

Port cover gaskets? Had the same problem with one "pooching" out and leaking after a rebuild.
Took it off, cleaned it up and applied a little black silicone. Seems to have fixed it.

Thanks Frank. That's good news. I thought I had a stuck check valve. I just so happen to have some oversized bolts. Nice to hear from you again.

Thanks Greg. I tried permatex #2 and seemed to work on the fuel pump one, then when after static timing the engine, the bottom one sharted on me. Hey, btw you're pretty close to me.
