i have 30 gallons of fuel thats been sitting in my boat for over two years. Is there anyway to use this fuel? any additives that could bring it to life? or do i just have to pump it out?

Collect it in a container and use it to burn off all the brush piling up around your house. I do not know that I would trust it in my lawn mower.

If this is straight gas...not ethanol laced...you can probably use it.

If this is E-10...and was properly Sta-Billed...you MAY be alright.

There isn't any additives that will restore 'old' gas, regardless of what the label tells you.

Other than that, there isn't any way that someone on this forum can give you a correct answer.

If you have an inline water/fuel filter...you might top the tank off with fresh fuel, carry a spare fuel filter, and try it out (but not too far from help).

Happy boating!

Re: Fuel restoration-is it possible?

I had an old motor home that had set for about 3 years and when I finally got it running, it ran terrible. A friend who works at one of our local refineries looked at it, smelled the exhaust and then went to his truck and brought out about a gallon of ethanol (alcohol) and poured about 1/2 of it into the tank. It definitely added a little life to the gas but he also said to burn off the gas and constantly add fresh premium gas for a couple hundred miles. That worked out ok for me. but there aren't many people with access to this type of product.
I would suggest you use it for starting fires/burning brush. Better than killing your engine.

I had some gas that had been around for years. I drained it out, filtered it and added a gallon per fill up in my older pickup. It didn't miss a beat and the gas is gone.

You should try Star-Tron. It can be found at walmart in the boating section.

Ditto - 2 years is pushing it though... I would add the Startron and fill the tank with as much fresh gasoline as possible.

Have you tried running it as is yet???? Just might suprise you.

Skip the star-tron and all the other crap on the shelf. If it is no longer burnable, drain it and refill with fresh - regular is fine, premium is a waiste of money.

Any idea if the gas was treated? If so, give it a shot. Yesterday, I decided I really needed to verify my new-to-me tach was working, so I figured I'd try the motor since I was planning on rebuilding the carbs anyway. Much to my surprise, it started almost immediately and ran smoothly up to 4500 RPM (no prop, though, so not a great test). The gas (E10) is at least 3 years old!

I've ended up with old gas before that I didn't want to run through the outboard. I put fuel treatment in it, cut it 3 parts of fresh gas to 1 part of old gas, and ran it through the truck. No problems.

Sorry, but for the problems you could cause by running water-infused gasoline with likely low octane rating from sitting for 2 years, I say syphon everything you can out and pour it on the fence lines to kill grass. It's not worth clogging fuel lines and carbuertor internals just to save $70 in gas.
