Fuel restriction alarm

I have a 89 225 with two problems.

1. I am having a small fuel problem:
When running the engine above high idle for a minute or so will sound the alarm. Pumping the ball will make the alarm go away, but if you pump the ball over and over it will go flat. So I took the fuel cap off no change.
So fuel restriction? Bad pick up? Bad syphon valve?

2. The power steering system is not working. I filed it up and no change. how do you trouble shoot?

You have the right thoughts for fuel restriction. Anit-siphon valve or trash covering the pickup screen.

If your steering is Baystar, Sea star or Hynautic, try Teleflex website for trouble shooting info.

Can't help with that steering. Maybe someone else will chime in.

That's simply an OMC unit from the late 80s early 90s. How did you install it? what system is in the boat? What does it do or not do that you want to change?
