I have been looking through post using the SEARCH feature. My fuel sending unit has three wires. Red/Black/White. The red is hooked up. The black is hooked up. The white one was just laying underneath the deck plate. I have not been able to find where it goes. Can someone help?

Re: Fuel Sending Unit

Probably goes nowhere.
A 3 wire fuel sender may be a Potentiometer being used as a Rheostat with a float on the wiper.

Using one pair of contacts makes resistance low when fuel is high.
The other pair makes resistance high when fuel is high.

This way, one sender can work with either of 2 designs of fuel level gauges.

The black wire is probably the center terminal. The white and the red outside terminals.
