Fuel sloshing in carb bowl causing funky idle?

Hi guys:

My new Indmar 5.7 with Holley 4-barrel runs great in general, but if I let the boat idle in real choppy water (like in a beam sea) it starts to idle rough and can even stall. It doesn't do this on smooth water so the only reason I can think of is that fuel is sloshing around inside the carb bowl.

Does anyone else's boat do this? Is there anything that can be done about it or should I just try to keep her under way in choppy water?

Thanks,

Bert

Pull the carb and rebuild it. Could be float level or drop is off, I would rather think you have water in the carb to be that sensitive.

I had an edelbrock do the same thing to me and it was under warranty and it was the accelerator pump in it that was bad. Mine would stumble really bad to get up on plane from time to time as well. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies. One nice feature of the Holley carb is you can adjust the float level externally. Maybe it's set wrong. I hate to take it apart because aside from this one quirk it runs beautifully.
