Fuel stabilizer on 2 stroke

i have a 1980 johnson 25hp when i go out last time of year i usually just run the gas until almost empty then just throw out the remaining 2 stroke mixture by burning (safely) this year i have 3/4 of a tank i'm asking this question because i can't find answer in forum
Can you put fuel stabilizer in 2 stroke mixture

Of course you can, and if that gas/oil mix is going to be sitting there a while, like several weeks or months, then you really need to do it to help prevent problems when you start motor up in the springtime. The Stabil Marine(Walmart $20/quart) is very good. While you're at Walmart maybe buy a fuel/water separator($27), mount on your transom, very easy 2 screw installation, really helps prevent fuel problems in your motor! Good Luck!
