Fuel Stabilizer

I attended an outboard repair class in which the instructor/mechanic recommended a fuel stabilizer which prolongs fuel life and prevents varnish buildup. Recently, my mechanic discouraged me from using this . The product I use starts with an S, ends with an L and smells like it has a lot of alcohol in it.

Stabil is safe and effective, Bill. I have used it for years.<br /><br />Moving this to outboard Non-repair discussions.

Hey Waterbill, just curious. Who offered the outboard repair class? I've been looking for such an animal in my area for quite some time, without success. Any suggestions on how to find one?
