How quickly does fuel go back? Does running fuel stabilizer all the time make sense? Sometimes I may *think* I'm going to take the boat out again in the fall but then let's say 2 months pass before I take it out. Is that quick enough to gum up the carb?

Also, I have a 50 gallon tank and usually go out for only a few hours at a time because of my young daughter. Am I better off running down the fuel lower and not filling up every time I got out, or fillling up after I boat each time so moisture doesn't get into the tank? Is that just a concern over the winter??

thanks.

Re: fuel stabilizer

Walmart has a new size Stabil for $20..treats 160 gallons..cheap piece of mind.
That said, 2 months is not a big deal, and just fill up when ya need it. If you don't have a water seperater/filter, again, Walmart $30 out the door for the kit

Thanks. My concern was that using stabil all the time wasn't good for the engine or carb. I wasn't sure.

Ayuh,........

I keep my tanks Full as often as possible,....
And,.....
I usually start stabilizing my refills about Now each year,....
'cause I never know Which trip is going to be the Last of the season.......

I can't think of Any reason at all, that might be of concern about using the stuff All the time.......

Re: fuel stabilizer

I have been running fuel stabilizer all the time in both of my boats for several years and it is the best thing I have ever done. They start up the first time, each time, and the carbs are clean as a whistle. Only draw back is the cost, but with the 160 gallon refill from Walmart, it is really no big deal.

I would also personally recommend filling your tanks each time. It allows a infusion of fresh gas every once in a while and keeps the moisture out of the tank.
