fuel stabilizer

Boating newbie here.

My boat engine was last in the water at the beginning of November and I also ran it at idle in December while on the trailer for 15 minutes.

I did not treat the gas with fuel stabilizer and put my tank outside for a couple of snowy months.

So today I drained my fuel filter reservoir (as the manual stated).
Brought the tank in from the snow, added fuel stabilizer and ran the engine for 15 minutes on idle (no mufflers, just the hose hook up).

Problem: I did not empty the bulb on the fuel line, I am guessing I have to empty it and redo this procedure. Should I worry about water in the gas too?

What other screw ups do I have to remedy here?

Help!

Well it's to late to empty the bulb it did that when the engine was started, so if it seems to run alright and if it will make you feel better get some carb and fuel injecter cleaner to add to the fuel and run some through it and take to the lake and try to run it. Just a after thought stabilizer does no good at all after the fuel has set (if it does at all) just a waste of money as the fuel has already soured.

Re: fuel stabilizer

thanks for the reply Laddies....well it started OK. Emptied the bulb and ran it again.

the gas is 100 days old....does that mean its sour?
Its an EFI...can those bee cleaned out properly with additives?

I wish I could get it out on the lake.....I have to wait about 8 weeks before that happens....I have 1 gallon of gas left....maybe I should fill up rest of the 6 gallon tank, add stabilizer and run it again??????

What is the best guess course here?

That will be fine..do that, run it awhile, and forget about it. You might want to add a can of Seafoam (follow direction amounts) instead of Stabil though. It will help clean the system, Stabil wont. And it can then sit for 3 months, then get the boat out and run it out, and then fresh

Well Still Crazy After All These Years......to each his own bro. Grin. I open a can of that stuff (Sea Foam) and pour it in till I decide to stop. Doesn't matter if it's my OB, Trucks, 5 diesel tractors, chain saws, weed eaters, riding lawn mowers or the cat's water......naw just kidding......the dog's water. Har Har.

All is true and you need to do it cept the animal cruelty part.....will get you a nice warm bunk in jail.....just kidding.....I think. Grin.
