What exactly does fuel stabilizer do? I have heard guys say its a cure all for old fuel and you should use it when storing your boat. I just bought a can of stay-bil and it smells like rubbing alcohol. I'm sure the alcohol content helps with water problems but it can't be good for rubber seals and other rubber parts.

It's a cure-all for keeping fuel from getting old. I use it w/ every tankful. No problems with seals and the like.

It will not fix fuel that's already gone bad.

Re: Fuel Stabilizer ?

Our local small engine repair man told me to use it all year long on all my small motors. According to him it is good medicine for the carb. throughout the year. Rick.
