Hi!

Sorry if this question has been asked before but trawled thro and didnt find my problem

Have a Merc 5.7 V8 fitted to Bayliner 2655, both 1996, bought second hand (today so havent had time to buy manual). On the trip home from the boat yard to marina boat all went well for 40 minutes or so at 24mph. Engine was running sweetly until revs faultered and recovered. Then engine died, restarted and rev'd ok without load. As soon as load was applied then died again. As it was now starting to blow F6 it was difficult to deal with however after 20 attempts of start & running on load at 2000rpm for a few hundred feet each time died again each time. Disconnected fuel line to filter tried to blow clear but guess it has non return valve. Also removed air filter which was very dirty (left off). Engine then started and got home with no further probs. Any ideas?

Thanx for your time!

If you didnt have any probs after removing the air filter, I would clean or replace the filter. Sounds like it was choking for air.
