Hi

My 50HP Merc 500 was running well & then after we had been running it hard for a while it started to have fuel starvation issues.

Now it will only run if i keep pumping the bulb and if i stop pumping is starts to fade and then stall.

I thought it was the fuel pump so I changed the diaphamm, gaskets and check valves, and also sprayed carb clearer into the carbs etc. But its still the same problem

Any ideas anyone?
Thanks

On my Evinrude under the cover I have a small one.

Just follow your fuel line under the cover to the carburetors, and there should be one.

There might be a fuel filter between your tank and motor.

Hi

No i dont seem to have a fuel filter to change. Could it be that I have not mixed enough 2 stroke oil into the petrol could this cause this effect?

Re: fuel starvation

You may have air leaking into the fuel line between the primer bulb and the fuel pump.

A worn O-ring at a fuel connector can let the fuel pump SUCK AIR yet when you put pressure on it with the primer it will seal and not leak.
