Fuel System Grounding

Hey Everyone,

First off, apologies if there's a better subforum for this.

Currently redoing a boat and have a question on the fuel system grounding. This boat has a below deck aluminum fuel tank. My understanding is that every metal component of the fuel system needs to be grounded in order to keep them all at the same electrical potential to prevent a spark. Makes sense to me. The fuel fill on this boat is plastic with a metal hose barb. There really isn't anywhere to hit on the metal portion to ground it, it's completely covered when the hose is in place. I'm looking for any insight anyone can offer on this. Am I missing something, does this barb not typically get grounded, should there be a connection point exposed up on the plastic portion of the fill neck that is electrically bonded to the metal barb, etc?

I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Hesitate to commenting because your asking a question which if done incorrectly can get someone killed. In my opinion you have the right idea, keeping everything at the same potential, I would do the same

Plastic is non conductive. The barb has no path to ground therefore no potential.
