We got 1997 Evinrude 130HP , We took it out yesterday after I changed the plugs to see how it runs, It ran great all day on WOT with no problem, Pulled in to fish for 45 Minute ,At first it started up fine but died on me then it took way longer to get it running, Then it started back up when shifted ready to go she died on me after moving few yards away ..several attempt but failed to get running , took it home battery was dead at this point ,so I got spare started it up on the ears she ran fine fore couple minute then it died again , I noticed the prim bulb was hard and firm prior starting .. I notice the filter inside the eng had no gas at 1st so pretty much at that point thought of fuel restriction so I pump it and got fuel running in the filter as I can see it clearly , One more start she fired right up but Along came with it NO OIL light but no beep sound 1/2 second and another beep but I see smoke from the back , So I shut it off and give it a couple of minute rest another run ..The warning (NO OIL) light never came on or the buzzer .. It ran ok then it died again ?. I been burning oil like it suppose to last time I checked 6 gallon- 1 pint or close .. However on my land test yesterday I would say I was seeing smoke from the back but I couldn?t tell if it's less than usual as I had so much going on my mind at this point??. What you think if

1- Am going to run external 6 gallon tank of fuel Only and monitor the oil level ? Should I pr-mix these 6 gallon with oil ? or depend on the external Oil tank/VRO Pump and monitor the eng running /idle condition to determent my fuel restriction suspense from my built in tank

2- If I use the pre-mix external gas tank along with the marine oil tank is that to much of an oil going in ? Is it going to harm any thing ?

3- should I disconnect the oil line coming from the built in Oil tank going to the VRO to set the alarm on ,Tune to the beep sound to make sure my alarm is working ? Also test the voltage going to the purple wire and I should get battery voltage ?

5- what is the possibility that my alarm or the Electronic in the back of that VRO unit were faulty alarm and not accurate since it didn?t do it again ?

Thank you in advance

Re: Fuel system /VRO pump question

Ok test result, I connected the external fuel 6 gallon tank directly to fuel line going to Pump and started eng, bulb was hard and firm.. It ran good tell eng shut it self out at the same time it run out of fuel the warning light ( NO OIL ) buzzer & light comes on .

Re pumped the prime bulb and start eng at this time am manually pumping fuel to eng by pressing the prim bulb constant ..It continue to run , I let it go to run on it?s own it runs tell it starve for fuel ..same symptoms of warning light of ( NO OIL ) along with buzzer comes on ..it buzz steady and stay buzzing . However at all the time it runs I see nice amount of smoke coming out which is getting oil . So I concluded one or 2 things and please correct me if am wrong

1- I might have a bad fuel/VRO pump on the fuel side
2- I might have a bad vacuum on the VRO , However last I checked the compression on the block was 120 PSI , Please note that when I steady pump the prim it continue to run

I have to run a vacu /pressure test if I do can I pull the pump out and do it on the bench ?

How easy and how much it coast for a rebuilt kit ?
