Re: Fuel tank electrical questions

Great link, Trent!

If you run the two tanks as separate, you should fit two gauges, if you connect them to form one, you need only one gauge.

I'd sugges you put a fuel cut off valve on each tank outlet to able to decide which tank to run from - and to improve safety in case of a leak (tank itself or hoses).

Remember to use marine grade, certified for fuel, fittings all the way.

Cool thanks alot Trent and UU this helped alot.Do I still want a ground running to the outer screws of the sending unit and the filler cap also?(for arching purposes of static elect.)

To expand upon what UU said about using one gauge: If you splice the two signal wires together, your readings will be inaccurate. Instead, use a switch (SPDT) to select which tank you are monitoring.

Re: Fuel tank electrical questions

hey i have a question along these lines. I have the exact set up oats is talking about. with this set up would you be using both tanks at once ie should they stay fairly even in level or would you end up running one you then starting to suck from the other. because right now i have one tank thats half full and another thats still full.
should they both go down the same or am i just nutzz???
